One day of street photography in Rome with Julia Coddington!
Thursday 12 September
9:30am – 5:30pm
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of street photography and sharpen their visualisation skills.
Morning session 9:30-11:30am
The workshop will start with a morning session at Ostello Bello Colosseo (Via Angelo Poliziano 75) where Julia will deliver a presentation on street photography and talk about ways of producing more interesting and memorable street photos.
Using her own images and the work of other photographers to provide context and inspiration she will discuss different ways of working as well as getting you thinking about your goals for the workshop and beyond.
She will also discuss various techniques including layering to create stories, how to overcome fear and gain the confidence to get close to your subjects. She will also talk about different styles and approaches to street photography and why we are each drawn to particular kinds of photographs.
Afternoon session: 12:30-5:30
After a quick technical check-in we head out to various locations to make photographs. Julia will be shooting alongside you, offering tips and suggestions. You’ll also get to see how she approaches working on the street.
Throughout the afternoon, Julia will encourage you to work on mini assignments or on practicing specific techniques you personally wish to work on. Assignments are tailored to suit your level of experience.
To get the most out of the day we’ll finish shooting around 5:30pm.
After we finish feel free to hang around for a drink or dinner and to continue talking about street photography!
